Sai Ponnaganti is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist with experience across inpatient, outpatient and community child, youth, adult and forensic mental health services across Melbourne, NSW and Adelaide. He holds consultant positions within several public health services.
Sai works with children, adolescents, young adults and families experiencing a broad range of emotional, behavioural and developmental difficulties. He has experience in the assessment and treatment of mood and anxiety disorders, trauma-related conditions, psychosis, relational challenges and neurodevelopmental conditions, including Autism Spectrum Disorder and ADHD.
His approach is relational, collaborative and trauma-informed. Sai places strong emphasis on careful, holistic formulation – seeking to understand each individual within their developmental history, attachment relationships and broader social context. He is particularly attentive to the ways early experiences, family dynamics and neurodevelopmental differences can interact and shape emotional wellbeing over time. This developmental perspective also informs his interest in perinatal and early parenthood mental health, recognising the importance of supporting parents and infants during periods of transition and vulnerability. He works closely with families to develop clear, thoughtful and practical treatment plans tailored to the individual.
