Julanne initially trained and worked as a Veterinarian for 10 years before studying Medicine at the University of Queensland. Julanne worked at Metro South Addiction and Mental Health Services in various hospitals in Brisbane while completing training to become a Specialist Psychiatrist in 2019. Julanne also completed the RANZCP Advanced Certificate in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (the interface of psychiatry and medicine) and a Mater Certificate in Neuropsychiatry. Julanne’s special interests are Neuropsychiatry (Behavioural and Mental Illness associated with brain and neurological disorders – especially epilepsy), Functional Neurological Disorders, and mental health of people with chronic medical and physical illness. Julanne has worked at the Mater Advanced Epilepsy Unit as a Neuropsychiatrist, and the Alfred Hospital Advanced Epilepsy Unit and Alfred Functional Seizures Clinic in Melbourne. Furthermore, Julanne spent 5 years at Mater Mother’s Hospital (Brisbane) and helped to develop the Perinatal Psychiatry Service at MMH. She has an interest in Perinatal mental health and is happy to work with pregnant patients who require specialist medication advice throughout pregnancy, pre-conception planning, and/or post-natal mental health concerns.
Julanne is an animal lover and has menagerie of pets, is a ‘Basketball Mum’ and enjoys food, wine, art and travel.
