What is Call to Mind and how does it work?

Call to Mind is a telepsychiatry service that allows people across Australia to access quality mental health care. We have a team of psychiatrists ranging in availability and speciality to best meet your needs. Consults are held on a video-conferencing platform so you can attend your appointment from anywhere.

When a GP refers you to Call to Mind, we will match you to one of our psychiatrists and an appointment time that best suits your needs. You can access your consult from a computer, smart phone or tablet at home or at your GP’s practice.

Who can use Call to Mind’s services?

Our services are open to anyone living in Australia. We offer both one-off assessments and ongoing private appointments. All you need to get started is:

  • a referral from a GP
  • access to a computer, tablet/iPad or smart phone and a reliable internet connection

For those living in rural and remote areas, our psychiatrists bulk-bill all initial assessments. For those in metro areas, appointments are privately billed with Medicare reimbursements.

How do I attend a telepsychiatry appointment?

Whether you are attending your Call to Mind telepsychiatry appointment from home or your GP’s office, this short video will show you how to connect with your clinician for your video call. Our admin staff can always arrange a test call in advance of your appointment upon request, just get in touch. For more info, check out our tips on setting up a successful telepsychiatry call.

I want to make a referral.

To make a referral, fax referrals to 03 9978 9458, submit via Health Link (using code ‘callmind’), submit via Argus (using code ‘arguscallmind_coreplus@argus.net.au’) or email to referrals@calltomind.com.au.

For psychiatry referrals, please make sure the referral is addressed to “Dear Psychiatrist” and includes a request for a bulk-billed 291 assessment or private ongoing care as well. All referrals must include patient email address and phone number. Call to Mind will then contact your patient to arrange an appointment time.

Consults are held on a secure video conferencing platform (Coviu), either at the patient’s home or at the GP practice if there are concerns about risk or if the patient needs assistance starting the call.

After the consult, Call to Mind will send the psychiatrist’s assessment report and suggested management plan back to the referrer.
